About Bars & Brews

A directory built for actually going out, not just browsing

Bars & Brews is a city-by-city guide to real bars, breweries, and taprooms — built for people trying to figure out where to go tonight, not people writing a thesis on the local nightlife scene.

What you get on each city page

How cities get chosen and built

Every city starts from public review data — ratings, hours, and the kinds of details real visitors mention (a great patio, a killer smash burger, a genuinely good whiskey list). We use that to write honest, specific descriptions instead of generic copy, and we only include a place once we've got real hours and real signal on what it's actually like.

We also screen out venues and parking lots with a credible pattern of serious complaints across multiple reviewers — things like discrimination, assault, deceptive pricing, or parking scams. That's a point-in-time judgment based on public reviews at the time a city was added, not a live safety guarantee, so always use your own judgment and check current reviews before heading out.

Where we are today

Bars & Brews currently covers 13 cities across North Carolina — Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Wilmington, Asheville, Concord, Durham, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Fuquay-Varina, and Sanford — with more on the way as we build them out.

Found a bar we're missing, or something that's out of date?

We'd genuinely love to hear about it — hours change, places close, and new spots open all the time.
